Flex-Pack is the exclusive importer/distributor of Silobolsa® bags from Plastar S.A. in Argentina. More than 220.000 bags are sold in Argentina each year making it the biggest market for silo bags in the world. Plastar produces around 100.000 bags per year and sells these bags all over the world. All the Silobolsa® 3-layer co extrusion bags are made with high-quality Dow Chemical resins. The Plastar silage bags, grain bags and elastic tubes have been used successfully for over 30 years by farmers storing their crops.
Flex-Pack has been marketing the Silobolsa® bags in Europe since 2002. Our bags are now being used throughout Europe. Together with our customers we are working on gradually increasing our customer base. We understand that only the quality of our products and the level of our service will generate acceptance with the end users. An average silo bag can store € 30.000 worth of product so there is no room for error.
Silobags can be used as silage bag or as temporary storage for various types of grain.
Silobags are very effective for preserving e.g. maize, alfalfa, barley, grass, sugar beet pulp, brewer’s grains and other by-products with minimal loss of nutrients. The anaerobic environment that is created eliminates spoilage through the growth of yeasts, molds, and harmful bacteria, while preserving essential proteins and nutrients. The packaging machine is the only additional capital expenditure required. These capital costs are generally less than a concrete silage clamp or a vertical silo. The silage bags allow you to store your silage anywhere you need it. A well-leveled and drained ground surface is all that is required.
The silobag system is also very suitable for the temporary storage of grains. Every year, grain producers are exposed to adverse weather conditions that delay the harvest. During wet years, the storage of high moisture grain (>15% moisture) can lead to spoilage when stored in conventional grain silos or warehouses. This spoilage translates into a loss of quality and feed refusal by livestock. Because grain bags create an oxygen-poor environment, spoilage is minimized.
Silobolsa® silobags are available in Black/White 3-layer co-extrusion polyethylene film. The standard diameters of our bags are: 5″, 6″, 6.5″, 8″, 9″, 10″ and 12″ (1.50 m, 1.80 m, 2.00 m, 2.40 m, 2.70 m, 3.00 m and 3.50 m). The standard lengths are 60, 75 and 90 mtr. Custom lengths, thickness or UV protection are available upon request. All bags come in sturdy boxes that are wrapped in protective plastic film.
Elastic tubes
The alternative for wrapping bales in stretch film is storing the bales in a tube. The bale tubes are made of stretch polyethylene. A Bale Tubing machine stretches the tube and the bales are pushed in one after another. When the tube resumes its original size the bale is stored with no air included. A typical Elastic tube processing machine has the ability to tube up to 100 round bales per hour!
The Silobolsa® elastic tube is a fast, economical and reliable form of storage for round and/or large square baled silage. The elastic tubes have a thickness of 100 µm and they are available in various sizes.
